10 Things Employees Want More Than a Raise is a great article by Geoffrey James, which reminds us all about the importance of treating employees like human beings.  I’ve always felt it is critical to get to know your employees as individuals, so you can address them in terms that will resonate with them.  In my view, motivation has to come from within, but it is fuelled by the sort of things that Geoffrey talks about in his article.  Yes, they are simple, common sense ideas, but how often do we overlook them in search of the ‘silver bullet’ to motivate all?  Too often is my opinion.
